Our Guide to Floor Spill Containment Pallets

Floor spill containment trays allow businesses to cover large areas with surface protection, creating a safe storage environment for hazardous substances. A floor spill tray features an especially low profile, making it accessible even by forklift. This ensures particularly convenient access to stored containers and hazardous materials.

Since floor spill containment trays are customizable products that require more extensive planning, we have compiled all the key considerations for you in this buying guide. If you need further assistance in planning your surface protection system, our experts are ready to support you with expert advice and hands-on guidance.

Low-profile design for efficient hazardous materials handling

Our floor spill containment trays feature an especially low profile. Individual surface protection elements can be connected into a large-area tray system using compatible accessories such as tray connectors and cross connectors. Available in various sizes, these floor trays allow you to create a precisely tailored storage area, optimized to suit both your spatial conditions and the specific requirements of hazardous materials storage.

Surface protection elements are trafficable

Thanks to their low-profile design and the appropriate accessories—such as access ramps and corner ramps—our floor spill containment trays are both walkable and drivable. Their robust and load-bearing construction ensures a high wheel load capacity, making them suitable for use with pallet trucks or electric pallet trucks, and—on request—even with forklifts or trucks. Even when using a drum trolley, loading the trays is significantly easier compared to conventional spill pallets, which typically have a higher profile and are not designed for vehicle access.

Large areas safely protected

Floor spill containment trays provide extensive protection against leaks and spills during the storage, decanting, or transferring of hazardous substances. Escaping hazardous materials are reliably captured within the individual surface protection elements and cannot spread to adjacent modules—each floor tray is sealed, effectively preventing uncontrolled dispersion of hazardous substances. During cleaning, only the affected tray element needs to be cleaned, not the entire storage system.

Where are floor spill containment trays useful?

Floor spill containment trays are ideal wherever large areas need to be protected from leaking hazardous substances. Our surface protection elements are particularly effective as a cost-efficient and flexible alternative to permanent floor coatings. Thanks to their simple installation, you remain adaptable—you can replace individual modules or expand the system with additional trays, all while ensuring a legally compliant, safe, and cost-effective solution.

Which floor spill containment trays do we offer?

We offer a wide range of floor spill containment trays made of steel or plastic (PE), all designed in accordance with applicable regulations to reliably contain hazardous materials.

Steel floor spill containment trays

Our steel floor spill trays allow you to create a modular surface protection system tailored to your specific needs. They are suitable for storing substances hazardous to water (WGK 1–3) and flammable liquids (H224–H226). Our floor trays support a wheel load of 450 kg, which can be structurally increased to 2 tonnes upon request. We offer four field sizes based on a 1,300 mm grid in two different heights—either 80 mm or 110 mm.

PE floor spill containment trays

We offer two different product lines of PE floor trays—blue PE surface protection elements and black PE surface protection elements. Both versions feature a low profile height of 150 mm but differ in their dimensions and grid sizes. With practical access ramps, these surface protection systems are easy to drive onto. PE surface protection elements are suitable for the storage of substances hazardous to water as well as aggressive chemicals.

What should be considered when installing floor spill containment trays?

Existing rooms and surfaces can be equipped with surface protection elements without requiring structural modifications. The floor must be level to ensure that the protection elements are positioned evenly and securely. Additionally, you should plan for sufficient handling space for pallet trucks or trolleys to ensure the surface protection system is easily accessible.

Practical accessories for floor spill containment trays

For both steel and PE floor trays, we offer practical accessories such as access ramps, tray connectors, and leakage detectors. With these accessories, you can configure a precisely tailored surface protection system that meets your specific requirements and optimizes hazardous materials storage and handling.
