Buying Guide: Purchasing Mobile Spill Pallets Made of Steel

As with conventional steel spill pallets, MEILLER offers a particularly comprehensive range of mobile spill pallets made of steel for the safe storage of hazardous substances. Our mobile pallet systems are fitted with easy-to-move castors and are designed in compliance with StawaR regulations – they are fully liquid-tight welded and made resistant to stored media through high-quality galvanization or coating. Mobile steel spill pallets can be used to store flammable liquids (H224-H226) and water-hazardous substances (WGK 1-3), such as oils and paints.

What Are the Requirements for Mobile Spill Pallets?

The legal basis for using mobile steel spill pallets for hazardous substance storage is the German Water Resources Act (WHG). Only mobile spill pallets with DIBt approval and compliance with StawaR standards may be used.

The required spill containment volume of the pallet depends on the storage quantity. The mobile steel pallet must hold at least 10% of the total storage volume or, at a minimum, the volume of the largest container stored. Here’s a simple calculation example to determine the required spill volume for the mobile pallet:

• Storage of 2 x 200-liter drums = 400 liters total storage volume
• 10% of 400 liters = 40 liters
• Largest stored container = 200 liters
• Required spill containment volume = 200 liters
• In a water protection area: 100% of the storage volume = 400 liters

In our online shop, you will find mobile spill pallets suitable for storing 1 x 200-liter drum or 2 x 200-liter drums. Smaller containers or 60-liter drums can also be stored on these pallets.

Drum Securing and Transport Safety for Mobile Spill Pallets

To secure the drums during transport, we offer optional flexible transport securing systems for 1 x 200-liter drum or drum securing systems with brackets and straps for 2 x 200-liter drums.

The transport securing system is attached to the push handle and secures the drum with a strap. The drum securing system can be mounted on the grating and secures two drums with a strap.

Additionally, we offer an optional drum cradle for 200-liter drums for horizontal storage on the spill pallet. This allows everyday dispensing tasks to be performed directly on the mobile pallet.

Mobile Steel Pallets with Electrically Conductive Castors for ATEX

We now also offer mobile steel pallets for use in ATEX-compliant areas, equipped with electrically conductive castors. The conductive version is available for all pallet sizes and configurations.
